We’ll assist you in finding the quality child care that best meets the needs of your child and your family.
Our consumer education and referral services can also help you discover the early care and education and school-age programs available in your community, answer your questions and provide additional information to make sure you are as well-informed as possible.
When you call, your referral specialist will:
- Gather family information to help with your search
- Assess needs and preferences
- Explain the types of child care available
- Explain regulatory requirements (Star Rated License and NC’s Star Rated License)
- Discuss the importance of making program visits and what you should observe (quality indicators) or ask during a program visit
- Discuss the cost of child care and provide information that may help cover the cost of care
- Provide referrals to licensed or license-exempt, legally operating programs
