Deidre McMahon has managed child care resource and referral services at Southwestern Child Development Commission since February 2008. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Meredith College in Raleigh and her Master’s Degree in Early Education, Leadership and Policy from UNC-Wilmington. Deidre moved into a statewide leadership position for Southwestern in 2015 as Southwestern’s Child Care Resource and Referral Director and joined the NC Child Care Resource and Referral Council. Deidre serves alongside others to oversee overall agency management and developed and implemented Southwestern’s Workforce Development Unit. Deidre developed the Pathways to Early Learning Project, which supplements ApprenticeshipNC, a program supporting “on the job training” and increased education for future Early Learning Professionals. Deidre also serves on a variety of local, regional and statewide committees and enjoys the service and professional growth that comes with these opportunities.
